I came across some great ideas for eco-friendly personal care items while browsing my favorite website, Etsy, and thought I would share them with you. Click on the images to view them on Etsy.

These are something I found particularly useful…makeup wipes! I like using makeup wipes before washing my face, and these will be a great way to reduce plastic and save money! The set includes 50 wipes with flannel on one side and terry on the back. They’re machine washable too.

I know this might seem crazy to some people, but I actually think it wouldn’t be so bad to use cloth feminine hygiene products. Disposable products can contain chemicals, but these are 100% cotton and reusable. The set contains one regular flow pad, overnight pad, and pantyliner.

I love the pattern on this 100% Turkish cotton bathrobe. It’s handmade, highly absorbent, and fast drying. Looks so comfy!
I made some new buttons! If you’d like to swap yours with mine, just grab the code beneath the picture. Send me an email or comment if you’d like your button featured on my site as well. I used “Grab My Button” Code Generator from My Cool Realm. It’s really simple to use and I didn’t have any problems with it. Let me know if you need help though

So thanks!
I love the fall / winter season! Where I live (Southern California), it’s almost always sunny. Not that I don’t enjoy it, but after a summer worth of dreadfully high temperatures and humidity, I am happy to welcome the change of season. That being said, there are tons to prepare for in terms of fashion and beauty. I do a seasonal haul on my skincare routine because your skin tends to act differently in varying climates. I know some people just use the same routine year round, but I encourage you to adjust to the seasons. At the very least, keep 2 different moisturizers on hand because you’ll need much more hydration help in the fall / winter months than the Summer. In terms of fashion, there’s a need for scarves, hats, gloves and boots, of course! Lastly, there is a big change in the food that we eat. So, with that, here are a few of my favorites and essentials that I’ll be indulging in this winter season!
Beauty

For me, changing up my beauty routine for the fall and winter months is essential to keeping my skin in good condition! I use a very light gel moisturizer in the summer months, but it doesn’t really cut it in the fall and winter in terms of hydration. So, instead, I enlist the help of two of my very favorite beauty companies – Suti Skincare and Rainwater Botanicals. Suti has one of the most amazing cleansing balms I’ve ever used, ever, and it imparts a lot of moisture to the skin without feeling oily or greasy, though there is a slight residue. I enjoy using it as a massage balm type to very gently exfoliate my skin, but also moisturize it and calm redness. This balm includes a host of amazing organic ingredients made in the UK – organic shea butter and sunflower, olive, apricot kernel and avocado oils are blended with a variety of plant oils including Calendula and lavender for a relaxing, calming, cleansing experience. It is a little on the expensive side, but totally worth it!

If you are on a seriously tight budget, my other favorite, Rainwater Botanicals, may be a better choice. It is nonetheless amazing, despite its more affordable price though! Handcrafted in Washington state USA, they offer a wide range of organic, wild crafted and eco friendly skincare products for all skin types. They also have a range of natural perfume and body products as well. I am a huge fan of their face serums, especially their Skin Repair Serum and their Sea Buckthorn and Pomegranate Serum, which work amazingly well and are super affordable at $10-$15 each, depending on the size. They also have a range of toners, treatments, and facial bar soaps.

Fashion
In terms of fashion, I like to keep things fairly simple, but I am a huge fan of gloves, scarves and boots! I have a tendency towards anemia so my hands and feet can get pretty cold due to this and I like to keep them warm in the cold weather. Thankfully, it only ever seems to get into the 30s F in the winter so I only need some light knits and rainboots!
These are a few of my favorites:

Food
The food is one of my favorite parts of winter! I love all the cozy soups, wintery treats and above all, tea! I know, it sounds kind of dumb, but I seriously love tea and I mostly drink it iced due to the heat here in Cali even though I love drinking hot tea. It’s simply too hot to drink hot tea most days, but when winter comes around, I am a tea fiend!

I recently discovered this incredible tea by Aveda (Yes, the cosmetics company!) that is natural and super eco friendly. It tastes amazing and surprisingly sweet, but there’s no sugar in it! Instead, they’ve made it with licorice and peppermint so it’s caffeine free and very refreshing. I highly recommend this one! Oh! And it’s 100% certified organic too!

I love hearty soups in the winter, especially when they include tons of veggies! My mom makes the best varieties so I’m always picking her brain for recipes and tips. There are some awesome recipes for fall soups here > http://bit.ly/tLQlzL
Otherwise, I love a basic minestrone (Hello, I’m Italian!) or homemade chicken noodle is also delicious!

What would winter be without its sweet desserts and treats?! I love baked goods. Seriously, bread is my enemy, but I try to keep things healthy even when I indulge in sweets and I recently discovered this amazing blog that covers all things my sweet tooth could ever crave! I’m happy to say all recipes offer lower calories, lower sugar options that still taste amazing! You can see her recipes here >http://bit.ly/eolJV4

Thanks so much to Emilee for letting me guest post on her blog! I really appreciate it very much and I feel super privileged because I absolutely love her blog!
My recent travels have led to the beautiful land of Alaska. It’s the second time I’ve been there because my little sister lives there. She recently got married to a really sweet guy, and I’m so happy for her. While there, I got to climb up a mountain in my Chuck Taylors (see bottom pic). Pretty sure I’m the only person that has ever done that. At least on that particular mountain. The place we stayed in is called Girdwood, and it’s about 45 minutes from Anchorage. I was happy that I got to see what Alaska looks like without being covered in snow like it was the last time I was there. If I could, I would live there I think. Beautiful mountains, snow, wildlife. It’s a nature-lover’s paradise. The picture at the right is from my morning hike up Mount Alyeska. It’s a ski resort, so it had a lift to take us back down the mountain. Which I was very thankful for! I was sad that I didn’t get to stay longer, but I was happy that I got to see a mother moose and her calf cross the street in front of me. At first I thought it was a horse, but then realized it didn’t have anyone on its back. Then I saw the antlers
and baby
Such an amazing place Alaska is. I can’t wait until I go back. If you ever decide to go, I suggest staying at the Alyeska Resort Also, the restaurants are great. My favorite pizza place is called the Moose’s Tooth in Anchorage, and my other favorite is called Chair Five in Girdwood. So, hopefully one day you too will get to experience the wonder of Alaska. If you haven’t already.
